|The two hand puppets are hand-printed, color lithographs from ball-ground, photo-positive plates. All the imagery was rendered by the artist on acetate, using his color gouache paintings on paper as his guide.
Approximately thirty acetates and color plates were created for the two puppets. The puppet lithographs were then hand cut, assembled, and mounted on custom, archival, Hahnemühle Bugra paper bags.
The central, black-and-white lithograph is also an original lithograph. The blue-sky background is blue book cloth, with screen-printed white clouds, and the outside cover is black book cloth, with a foil-stamped title and artist’s name. The hand puppets are removable for use. Each impression is signed and numbered by the artist in an edition of 24.
Patrick Masterson, a fellow alumnus of RISD, was the collaborating master printer, and was assisted in editioning by Elvia Perrin, who also supervised the construction phase. The case and panels were crafted by Cloverleaf Studios in Austin.
