Flatbed is very proud to announce the publication of four new editions with Sue Heatley of Richmond, Virginia.  These four prints make up the "Natural Order" suite. The relief prints are available as single prints or as a suite. Each was printed in an edition of 24. The image size: 19 5/8 x 15 5/8 inches and paper size: 28 1/2 x 23 3/4 inches

When Sue signed the first proofs in the fall, I was intrigued by her choice of suite title:  "Natural Order".  I had always used that phrase "the natural order of things" to remind myself when I dropped and broke a china cup or had to stay parked on MoPac at rush hour, that the breaking and the stalling were only to be expected.  Not being a philosopher but instead a chronic pragmatist, I saw phenomena like gravity and time sequencing to be natural culprits.  But that's really not the ticket here. According to the contemporary sage Wikipedia, Natural Order is "the moral source from which natural law seeks to derive its authority. Natural order encompasses the natural relations of beings to one another in the absence of law, which natural law attempts to reinforce. This is related to karma."  Aha, that makes it a perfect title for Sue's creation of an ordered chaotic gray field that highly evolved lyrical images rest in and upon.  These could be symbols, structures, letters of an unknown language, a highly intelligent but alien being, and more.  They seem to have naturally evolved from the field that bears them.  They appear in different postures and hues.

We are delighted to be able to show them and offer them to the public. The editions are very limited and will not last long. Link to information about the suite here: NATURAL ORDER.
