THE ITALIAN INTENSIVE: UMBRIAN INSPIRED ARTWORKS

MAY 9 - JUNE 28, 2014
Artists' Reception: May 16, 2014 6-8pm

During the summer of 2013, Flatbed sponsored a workshop in Umbria, Italy at La Romita School of Art. The workshop taught by Katherine Brimberry and Suzi Davidoff brought together a small gathering of artists from the USA and Australia. Of the eight participating artists, three were from Australia and five more stateside. During the two weeks they had together, Davidoff taught new approaches to drawing and Brimberry taught a printmaking class that stressed using non-toxic materials to create collaged and mono printed works.

The Umbrian hill country was the setting for the workshop and out of that time of working and touring the many small towns of that area, much work was created and inspired. The artists of the workshop have been invited to share their work ranging from drawings, photographs and paintings to photogravures and intaglio prints.

Artists include: Bernadette Boundy, Katherine Brimberry, Suzi Davidoff, Susan Lock, Colin McLain, Kenna Prior, Erica Stevenson and Tina Weitz.
