Terry Allen lives and works in Santa Fe, New Mexico, but his roots are deep in Texas; Lubbock, Texas. He is as well known for his raw, rockabilly music--The Panhandle Mystery Band--as for his visual art. A recipient of a National Endowment for the Arts Fellowship, a Guggenheim Fellowship, a Bessie Award, and an Isadora Duncan Award, Allen specializes in installation and performance art, and in cast-bronze sculpture, but he is equally proficient in printmaking and other media. His irreverence and ironic sense of humor are his trademarks, and a careful observer will also find tongue-in-cheek references to the history of modern art.
