Opening Reception for the artist: January 14 6 - 8 pm
“We live in a world that amplifies circuits of exchange. My work examines mimetic forms of the dendritic flow network found throughout biology and geology implicated in every scale of existence. Accumulations and repetitions of the small become ever-expanding, self-similarnfractals. Our neurons and lungs take the shape of roots and rivers. This visceral indicator centers us on the condition of being a body inseparable from a whole Earth system.
Through abstractions rather than a direct depiction, I’m amplifying these interwoven ecologies. The current crisis of liveability on Earth requires we collectively focus on our shared evolutionary history and mutualistic biology as we call for a reversal of the unsustainable demands we’ve placed on the planet. As we continue to grapple with the effects of a two-year traumatic experience and the shared responsibility, my work focuses on the fragility and resilience of the body.” Kim Kei, 2022.
