Black Owned/Mini-Telfar

Flatbed is pleased to announce the signing and publication of Adrian Armstrong’s third published print, “Back Owned/Mini-Telfar.” This is Armstrong’s third published print with Flatbed and our first published lithograph with him. Measuring 15” x 11”, this stone lithograph features a chine collé area of joining t-shirts worn by a couple sporting Mini-Telfar bags. The title “Black Owned/Mini-Telfar in part refers to the Telfar designer bags that they carry. Telfar is owned by designer Telfar Clemens, a Liberian-American fashion designer and the founder of the label Telfar. Clemens has won the 2017 CFDA/Vogue Fashion Fund, the CFDA American Accessories 2019, and the CFDA American Accessories 2020. The image of the couple gives homage Telfar and other black-owned creative enterprises.

Armstrong created this lithograph in collaboration with master printer Alyssa Ebinger, during the summer of 2022. He drew the key image directly onto a lithographic stone, then created a monoprinted pattern to be chine colléd (collaged) into the print while it was being printed.
