Flatbed is proud to announce its annual Community Studio group exhibition.  Known as Flathead Printmakers, each is a member of the bustling Community Studio where they have access to lithographic, intaglio and letterpress equipment.  Flatbed is excited to see a growth in membership over the past year and is even more excited about the work being created in the Community space.

The  2024 Flathead exhibition will showcase works by Samantha Melvin, Alfonso Huerta Garcia, Nicole Grossberg, Deborah Poisot, Scott Bennett, Emery Spina, Jeffrey Lara, and  Belinda Casey.

Showing alongside the work by Flatbed members will be the Electric Baloneyland woodcut by Tom Huck.  Missouri artist/printmaker Tom Huck is an independent artist/printmaker with his press Evil Prints in St. Louis, MO. Working with Flatbed Press, Huck's Electric Baloneyland was published by Flatbed in 2018. This large-scale chiaroscuro woodcut depicts the downfall of American culture as played out at a rural county fair, the action of which centers around a lady liberty mermaid's capture at a "noodling" competition. Electric Baloneyland captures the spirit of dark rural satire that Huck has become known for over the last 20 years, while referencing the work of the masters of printmaking from the Rennaissance. The completed installed size of the assembled panels is 105.75 x 118 inches., making it perhaps one of the largest chiaroscuro woodcuts ever made. Impressions of this monumental woodcut are  now a part of numerous collections including the Museum of Fine Arts Houston and the  Michael C. Carlos Museum at Emery University,

A public reception is planned for July 13 from 4 until 6 pm at Flatbed Center for Contemporary Printmaking.  Gallery located at 3701 Drossett Drive, Suite 190  Austin, Texas 78744
