Everyone, Anyone, Whatever and the Suite of Three by Connie Arismendi
When Connie Arismendi collaborated with Flatbed’s printers in 2021 and 2022, she created a cycle of very large monoprints that featured cloud shapes that contained a single word. The words she chose were words that could vacillate in meaning. The clouds themselves and the space around them had their own visual vocabulary. When shown in her recent exhibition titled “Everyone,” these prints filled the space with a charged atmosphere. Toward the completion of the large monoprints, her attention turned to a smaller format and deeper space. She create three etchings that were editioned in varied editions with monoprinted background layers. The suite also uses words set in what seems to be atmospheric space. The titles of the three etchings refer to the prominent words of each: “ForGive”, “Any”, and “One.”
The work of Arismendi’s collaboration has been documented in a catalog titled “Everyone,” with essays by Tatiana Reinoza, Benito Huerta, and Katherine Brimberry. Link to Arismendi’s page to see in detail all the work still available and purchase the catalog. ARISMENDI
